Lanzarote is the easternmost island of the Canary Islands. Unlike the other islands, its low elevation and uniform topography prevent the formation of clouds, which in turn reduces precipitation. Additionally, its proximity to the African continent further contributes to its dryness, resulting in an extremely low annual rainfall of less than 150 mm.
