Chenin Blanc is a white grape variety originating in France. While its primary growing region in France is the Loire Valley, its place of origin, it also plays a dominant role in the white wines of AOC Entraygues - Le Fel in the Southwest, where it must constitute at least 90% of the blend.
In South Africa, Chenin Blanc is known as Steen and is the most widely planted grape variety in the country.
