Wine Grape Varieties

Kerner

Kerner is a white grape variety originating in Germany. It is a cross between Trollinger and Riesling, known for its late bud break, which makes it less susceptible to spring frost, and its early ripening. The wine produced from Kerner is of high quality, though not as delicate as Riesling, and it is regarded as one of the most successful crossbred varieties. However, its cultivation area in Germany has declined since peaking in the 1990s, now covering approximately 1,900 hectares.
