Río Negro is a "Vino de Pago" located on a high plateau (páramo) at an altitude of 940 to 1,000 meters in the northern part of Castilla-La Mancha. The name "Rio Negro" ("Black River") comes from the dark-colored water that flows through the area, caused by unique mineral components in the soil.
