Maury is an AOC located in the northern part of the Pyrénées-Orientales department, in the valley along the Maury stream. It is known for producing a large volume of red wine, and even among its fortified wines, red varieties account for 70 to 80 percent.
hile fortified wines from the Maury AOC were granted AOC status back in 1936, red still wines were only officially recognized in 2011, making it a relatively recent development.
