Meunier〈ムニエ〉は Pinot Noir の突然変異によって生まれた黒ぶどう品種で、新芽や葉に生えている産毛が小麦粉をまぶしたように見えることから「粉屋、製粉業者」をあらわす Meunier という名が付いています。
ドイツ語の Müller も同じ意味で、ぶどうの樹をあらわす rebe を繋げて Müllerrebe〈ミュラーレーベ〉という名が付けられています。
